It’s still very surreal to me that I am in San Francisco for the Foodbuzz Blogger Festival. I cannot thank my sponsor Bertolli and Foodbuzz enough. I rarely win anything so I am glad that the rare time I did get lucky it was something like this. The opportunity to be here is doubly wonderful because one, I have found the blogger community to be so inviting and cannot wait to meet fellow Foodbuzz bloggers in person and two, San Francisco is one of my absolute favorite cities. You may remember that I visited last year with the boyfriend (You can find posts about it here, here, here and here.) and I am truly excited to be back. Some day I hope to be a permanent resident, if only I can convince the boyfriend.
So far I’ve spent the morning wandering around The Ferry Building Marketplace. I knew that would be my first stop because I am kind of obsessed. Pictured above are some of the gorgeous mushrooms on sale at Far West Fungi. They have many varieties that can be hard to come by in Boston so I am contemplating buying some to take home. The lovely salesgirl assured me that if gently wrapped in a paper bag they would survive the journey back to Boston. The question is whether I want some lobster mushrooms, which I’ve been told are an awesome seafood substitute for vegetarian chowders, or…
Yes that’s right, your very own home mushroom mini-farm. Growing your own herbs now seems a little pedestrian compared to growing your own mushrooms. Some how knowing my dog I don’t think this is a viable option in my condo, but I know a few people I think this would be perfect for as a holiday gift.
In addition to oggling at mushrooms I also treated myself to a haircut and picked up a new charger for my computer as I left mine at home and it seems impossible to make it through a blogging conference without one. Anyway, I’m off to take a little nap before tonight’s events. Unfortunately my relentless migraines followed me to San Francisco and have rendered me a little foggy. Case in point, I just almost slathered my face with toothpaste instead of cream. Go me. Despite the headache, I still cannot wait for tonight. I already ran into Sabrina of Rhodey Girl Tests in the elevator and am sure more hello’s are to come. Hopefully a little R&R will make me fit for socializing again.
