The lovely Shannon of Tri to Cook gave me a Beautiful Blogger Award. Thanks Shannon! The award stipulates that I share seven things about myself and pass it along to another seven bloggers. Since I’m home at my parents’ house for Thanksgiving and blogging from the bedroom I lived in for my teenage years as well as summers between college, I decided to make my post flashback inspired. Yes, that’s what happens when you sleep in a room where you are surrounded by discarded books you read in high school and mountains of Abercrombie bags you saved for god knows what reason. Seriously, I have a pile of 30+ old Abercrombie bags from the 1990′s.
Fact #1 – I am VERY afraid of heights. Because of this I don’t like roller coasters, ferris wheels, and balconies.
I'm still shocked I had the courage to ride the London Eye when I went to the UK during my junior year of college.
Fact #2 – I love crafts and sewing and even made my prom dress in high school with the assistance of my grandmother.
This dress is so "poofy-high school-prom dress" that it's safe to say I'll never wear it out again. But I will admit that I try it on from time to time for fun.
Fact #3 – I’ve always loved cooking, but I didn’t start truly pursuing it until my twenties.
One of the first of my kitchen creations I ever photographed - coconut shrimp and chicken made by a friend and me in college.
Fact #4 – I studied French for six years and went to France for 2 weeks when in high school. Sadly, my taste in food was not as adventurous then so I had a lot of American food and French desserts. I regret this very much now.
Me in a hotel room in Paris at age 17. I ate that pastry for breakfast.
Fact #5 – I went to Boston University where I majored in Communications.
My RA and me in a float I designed for BU's homecoming parade.
Fact #6 – If you couldn’t tell from my blog, I’m a chocoholic. I will always say yes to dessert if there is chocolate involved.
The boyfriend and me on my 25th birthday with some delicious cupcakes, chocolate of course.
Fact #7 – As a college junior, I jumped in the Atlantic on Valentine’s Day to raise money for Special Olympus.
Me after going into the ocean.
So for those of you who may have been curious, that gives you a little peak into my life up until now. And now I would like to pass this award onto 7 wonderful bloggers. Christy of Balance, Diana of Dinasaur Dishes, Ashlee of A Year in the Kitchen, CaSaundra of A Pinch of This and A Dash of That, Victoria of The Idle Loaf, Guava of For the Love of Guava, and Mo of Paws and Pours. Thanks again for the lovely award Shannon.
Additionally, I wanted to let you all know that for the next round of The Baking Gals I will be a team leader for my own team, Team Aprons and Oven Mitts. Sign up kicks off tomorrow so stop by the Baking Gals website. Even if you’ve never participated before, we’re always looking for new volunteers. I’ve found it’s a great way to give back and is especially easy during the holiday season when I’m doing so much baking anyway. If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments or to e-mail me – my address is on the sidebar.
Thanks for letting me air my little PSA. I now have a question for you:
Do you ever find yourself surrounded by your past? What is the most interesting thing you’ve stumbled upon?

Kelly, you are too kind! Thank you for passing it on to me. I loved your flashback… especially the poofy dress. I have one exactly like it in gold from my prom (although I definitely do not have the talent to have made it myself!)
I love your prom dress picture! you look so happy.
Thank you for the award, I look forward to taking a little walk in my past. I find it most obvious when I go home to visit my parents–my books, places I used to spend a lot of time, memories. I’ll have to think on the most interesting thing I’ve stumbled on–maybe the stuff hidden in my mom’s hope chest?
Awesome post!! That picture of you in France doesn’t even look like you. So cool that you have so many old photos to share
Good luck this month with the Baking GALS! I really do want to join one day…
What a sweet post – a nice little glimpse into your past, along with some cute pics! My most recent brush w/my past was a year or so ago, when we thought we were relocating far away . . . cleaning out the basement, I came across love letters from my first boyfriend, in 8th grade (who’s now a well-known author and writer for major magazines). I read them all, and they brought me right back to those awkward teenage years! Needless to say, I saved them (and we didn’t move)!
I am also deathly afraid of heights! It is so cool that you made your prom dress with your grandma. What an awesome memory! I can’t imagine ever making clothing, I am so not good at that!
i love this post! what fun memories
Wow, you are so accomplished! Cook, dressmaker, float designer, world traveler! Amazing!
That first picture of you reminded me a lot of Anna Torv. An even prettier version of Anna Torv!

you made that dress? crazy!
Thanks for sharing your great photos, it’s great to get to know you better! Congrats on the award!

It’s fun finding out more about bloggers. And I think everyone has their prom/formal dress in their wardrobe, never to be worn again!
